When recording data on izeltlabuak.hu, if we select an image whose metadata includes location coordinates, it automatically appears on the map. When using Samsung phones, it may happen that automatic location marking does not occur during observation recording. This happens when we select our images using the Samsung Gallery app during image upload.
National Moth Week
This year marks the 14th time the National Moth Week event is being held. Initially limited to America, it has now become global. In 2025, during the July 19-27 period, moth enthusiasts will join forces and make observations in groups or individually.
The goal of the events is to draw attention to the diversity and importance of moths.
The list of protected animal species in Hungary is summarized on the Ministry of Agriculture termeszetvedelem.hu website based on Act LIII of 1996 on nature conservation and Government Decree 13/1997 (V. 28.) KTM on the register of protected natural areas and values.
European Moth Nights 2025
In 2025, the European Moth Nights event will be held for the 22nd time.
During 2024, in addition to regular tasks, the following changes and new features were implemented:
The Butterfly Conservation Section of the Hungarian Ornithological Society has initiated a national butterfly survey for 2025 for the clouded apollo (Parnassius mnemosyne), Jersey tiger moth (Euplagia quadripunctaria) and purple emperor (Apatura iris) species. We expect the recording of observations on the izeltlabuak.hu platform.
In 2024, we once again joined the National Moth Week event series that appeals to moth enthusiasts.
National Moth Week promotes the beauty and diversity of moths. The event encourages people of all ages and experience levels to observe, study and document moths in their own gardens or other nearby locations. Participants get a unique opportunity to contribute to collecting scientific data about moth distribution through community research.
In 2024, we once again joined the European Moth Nights event series that appeals to moth enthusiasts. This event provided a unique opportunity for those interested in moths to share their passion and observe these mysterious creatures together.
Our pages that present arthropods by taxonomic classification and list observations have received a new feature. In May 2023, we renewed our taxonomic subpages for orders, families, genera and species. Since then, you can review the Hungarian arthropod fauna and related observation data faster and more simply on modern interfaces. Since February 2024, you can also see the taxonomic category overview of a user's observations in this new view.
