Use of Images and Observation Data
The izeltlabuak.hu website primarily focuses on arthropods found in Hungary. This entry also deals with Hungarian fauna.
Overview
Every observation and image you have represents important scientific and educational value. Data and images recorded on the izeltlabuak.hu platform can be used in many ways - whether for scientific research, book publishing, creating educational materials, or social media sharing.
Setting usage licensing helps determine how others can use this data while also protecting copyright.

Free Culture and Licensing
Licenses clearly regulate how images or observations can be used for educational, scientific, or any other purpose.
As committed supporters of free culture, we have determined the primary usage licensing to be the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (Attribution 4.0 International) license for both images and observations. Like other free licenses, no separate permission is required for use, but it is mandatory to mention the author's name, source URL, and license name.
Different licenses have additional unique properties, so it is worth studying them on their official websites, which the links in their names point to.

Setting Usage Licensing
Users can choose from various free Creative Commons licenses or select the 'All rights reserved' option. Most licenses require author attribution, while some restrict commercial use or modifications. For the 'All rights reserved' license, author consent is required for use.
Users can set usage licensing separately for images and observations in their profile settings. This allows, for example, to assign one license to images and another to observations, thus flexibly managing the usage licensing of different content.
We also share data with the GBIF (Global Biodiversity Information Facility) platform. This is an internationally accepted and recognized interface, the purpose of which is the central aggregation and public publication of biodiversity data. GBIF only supports CC-BY and CC-BY-NC licenses. It is advisable to take this into account when selecting usage licensing.

Display of Usage Licensing for Observations and Images
On observation pages and in various display locations of images, we clearly, detailedly, and transparently show their usage licensing. We detail the properties of licenses, provide examples of use, which can be copied to clipboard with one click by those who want to use them, so they can provide proper citation.

Scientific and Educational Use
Data and images recorded on the izeltlabuak.hu platform can be used for many scientific and educational purposes. Scientific use includes scientific articles, studies, research projects, doctoral dissertations, and conference presentations. Educational use can create books, publications, newspaper articles, blog posts, educational materials, and documentaries. Digital content includes websites, blogs, social media posts, mobile applications, and interactive maps.
When using data, always check the license, mention the author, follow the license terms, and use proper citation. The platform automatically generates citation templates for proper use.
izeltlabuak.hu data has already contributed to the preparation of the Natura 2000 national report and IUCN Red List species assessments. These uses show that data recorded on the platform represents important scientific and conservation value not only locally but also at an international level.

Export and Data Query
On izeltlabuak.hu, it is possible to export various observation data by taxonomic groups, by user, by observation group, or by time period. During export, we receive a zip compressed file that contains an observations CSV file, an images file, and a text information file about the query details.
The exported data is structured according to the Darwin Core standard, which provides an internationally recognized specification for the purpose of sharing and reusing biological diversity-related data.
Handling Protected Species
For protected species, special protection applies. We do not share precise coordinates, only randomly generated ones within the given ETC grid. For species that we consider protected in Hungary but were not recorded in Hungary, we left the coordinates empty. The observation points of protected species are not displayed with precise coordinates for their protection; they are marked on the map with a 10x10 km grid.
Precise coordinates can be requested for conservation or scientific research purposes. These are shared after preliminary consideration.

FAIR Principles
Data found on izeltlabuak.hu complies with FAIR principles:
- Findable - Data is easily findable
- Accessible - Open access
- Interoperable - Compatible with different systems
- Reusable - Can be reused for different purposes
You can read about FAIR principles in detail here.
Integration with Other Systems
The current usage licensing is suitable for maintaining close relationships with other platforms and easily connecting with the scientific community. The condition for open information flow is that data should be transparent and interoperable, and usage licensing should be clearly defined.
Summary
Images and observation data recorded on the izeltlabuak.hu platform can be used in many ways for scientific, educational, and teaching purposes. Usage licensing is clearly defined, and the platform ensures data interoperability and reusability.
In accordance with free culture principles, data is open access while the licensing system also protects copyright.
