Observations
The izeltlabuak.hu website primarily focuses on arthropods found in Hungary. This entry also deals with Hungarian fauna.
Overview
The observations page for a taxon enables an overview of observations related to a specific taxon, e.g. an overview of observations belonging to an order, family, genus, or species.
On the page you can see:
- navigation to related pages
- settings that enable filtering and sorting of displayed observations
- a list of observations belonging to a taxon
The observations tab on the main categories page lists all observations, since no single taxon is selected here.
By further narrowing down the taxa, you can view observations at family, genus and species level in the same way.
Example: species-level Acherontia atropos - death's-head hawkmoth observations
Availability
You can access a taxon's observations page in several ways:
- From main categories, family, genus and species pages: By browsing among taxa during category overview and clicking on the 'Observations' tab.
- From user observations list: Starting from the user observations list from the observation list item.
Page Structure
Navigation
At the top of the page we can navigate to

Navigation between parent groups, below that the taxon's additional subpages
Display Settings
With display settings you can customize how list items appear in different views, and filter them according to various criteria.

Example: display settings for all Vespa genus observations
You can use the following settings for sorting and filtering:

Observations List
The page contains a paginated list of observations belonging to a taxon.
In the observations list, each list item represents one observation. The list item contains the observation's image or images, as well as the observation's detailed data.
From here you can navigate to
- the observation page
- the profile page of the person who recorded the observation
- the profile page of the identifier
- If a more precise identification is given for the observation than the current taxon page, then to the more precise taxon page. E.g. if we are on the Sphingidae - hawkmoths page, and the observation has Acherontia atropos - death's-head hawkmoth specified, then we can navigate to the species page.
Example: Mészáros Viktor's Acherontia atropos - death's-head hawkmoth observation on the Sphingidae - hawkmoths observations page
