Fauna Hungariae
The izeltlabuak.hu website primarily focuses on arthropods found in Hungary. This entry also deals with Hungarian fauna.
Overview
Fauna Hungariae - Hungarian Fauna is a scientific book series that presents the fauna of the Carpathian Basin, primarily Hungary, organized by taxonomic groups.
It provides detailed, scientific treatment of animal species living in our country.
The series volumes typically cover one animal group each (e.g., spiders, fish, birds, dragonflies, etc.).
Each species includes description, taxonomic classification, distribution, habitat conditions, and identification keys.
Its goal is to provide a comprehensive picture of Hungarian fauna richness, while serving as a scientific reference work for researchers, students, and nature conservation professionals.
The series is one of the fundamental works of Hungarian zoological research. It is an important treatment not only of Hungarian but also of Carpathian Basin fauna. It is used as a basic reference in scientific research and nature conservation.
The volumes were written long ago. Since then, many changes have occurred in taxonomic classifications and our knowledge of species, which the volumes do not reflect.
New volumes are no longer published.
The volumes are downloadable, but not all of them. If you have digital versions of the missing volumes, please send them to us and we will publish them.
