I was contacted with a request to enable the identification of scorpions as well.

We have completed the collection and publication of our previous month's, July 2025, changes made to the Hungarian checklist and naming.

Recently, a dear friend of mine, Dávid Horváth contacted me with the question of whether I could record the observations he had made with his phone over the past few years. It was about 2000 photos and 1000 observation records. Understandably, he didn't want to record them individually, as that would have been a lengthy task for him. I was happy to fulfill the request.

The Sphyracephala europaea was described as a new species in 1997 by L. Papp, M. Földvári and P. Paulovics in the Folia Entomologica Hungarica Rovartani Közlemények under the title Sphyracephala europaea sp. n. (Diptera: Diopsidae) from Hungary represents a family new to Europe. The Hungarian name European stalk-eyed fly first appeared, to my knowledge, in the presentation of protected species in the Magyar közlöny.
