A korábban Suphrodytes dorsalis (Fabricius, 1787) néven ismert fajt 2012-ben szétválasztották (forrás1), és egy későbbi nevezéktan változás során (forrás2) Hydroporus dorsalis Fabricius, 1787 és Hydroporus figuratus Gyllenhal in C.R. Sahlberg, 1826 néven találjuk a 2017-es fajlistában (forrás 3).
Mivel a fajpár hazai elterjedése nem tisztázott, a két fajt együtt mutatjuk oldalunkon.
